Sephora color match3/19/2023 She goes wow you used to be dark and hands me Y315 (cool tone) which was darker and gives me a swatch and then had nothing else to say. I told her I was matched with Y245 before (warm undertone). Based on the result of the scan, Color iQ will then recommend the best product based not only on color match, but any preferences the client has expressed. I recently got color matched with a MUFE foundation stick. So, how does this seemingly magical technology work? First, the Sephora Beauty Advisor scans the client’s skin in several areas on the face and neck using a highly accurate device. “A client with a more muted complexion might find that foundations often look too garish on their skin, while someone with a more saturated will look ashy/grey if a foundation is not matched perfectly.” The color iq is the machine that we use to color match and honestly it’s not the most consistent match. “Adding saturation as a dimension in matching helps us match clients who normally have a hard time finding a foundation that looks good on them,” Nelly Mensah, Senior Director of Store Experience & Digital Product at Sephora tells TZR. It takes into account three attributes of color: depth, undertone, and saturation - versus the industry standard, which currently only consists of depth and undertone, not saturation. To address the inevitable limitations of color-matching even in-store Sephora is launching a new shade matching technology that seeks to make the experience more accurate. Sephora’s new Color iQ technology helps match you with your perfect foundation, concealer, pressed powder, or tinted moisturizer. This becomes even more troublesome when a shopper is trying to match a foundation to her skin tone. To address the inevitable limitations of color-matching, (even in-store), Sephora is launching a new shade matching technology that seeks to make the experience more accurate and inclusive than ever before. Factors including how the product looks in natural light, or after it’s oxidized on the skin, and whether or not it fits your undertone, contribute to the confusion and difficulty of finding that just-right shade. The process often goes beyond what meets the eye. Aside from the fact that one too many brands still don’t carry a wide enough range, there are so many factors that go into finding your perfect match. iPad is a trademark of Apple.Foundation shade matching is tricky territory. PANTONE ® and other Pantone trademarks are the property of Pantone LLC. This exclusive SEPHORA foundation service will be available at SEPHORA 5 Times Square, Manhattan beginning July 26th and SEPHORA Powell Street, San Francisco beginning August 2nd. With that number, Sephora beauty experts reference SEPHORA's Universal SkinTone Library on an iPad ®, which holds over 1,000 foundation SKUs, to determine what products are a precise match for each skin tone. As the first of its kind in cosmetics retail, the device works by taking an image of the skin, analyzing it and assigning an official PANTONE SkinTone number. The SEPHORA + PANTONE COLOR IQ system is based on Pantone's CAPSURE™, a compact, hand-held spectro-colorimeter that is used in the design world to identify color with unsurpassed accuracy. "Even within the broader range of fairest ivory to deepest ebony, there are nuances that need to be calibrated correctly to determine the right match, and this solution eliminates many of the variables that can affect shade selection." "Skin tones are comprised of many distinct shades so developing this particular application for our color measuring technology was an exciting challenge for us," explained Lisa Herbert, Vice President of Consumer Licensing at Pantone. "We see this as the first application of this exclusive Sephora technology, and are excited to expand its capabilities for other uses in the color world." "SEPHORA + PANTONE COLOR IQ is an incredible process that delivers a real benefit to our clients," said Margarita Arriagada, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at Sephora.
